That's right, we launched
When I was a kid, I went to Cape Canaveral, FL, and the Kennedy Space Center, to worship at the shrine of all things NASA. I had an overall fascination with space, pretty much like any 80's kid would have, immersed as we were in the kid-culture of Return of the Jedi, Space Camp, and ALF.
(For the record, I wanted to go to space camp so dang bad.)
Church Music for Cool Kids
Just wanted to toss out a sweet download opportunity to all you dwellers...indie rock church music from Mars Hill Seattle. Enjoy.
Ben and Tom on Justification
Tom is a British NT scholar who talks a lot about the apostle Paul and especially justification. Ben is an American NT scholar who likes Tom and is defending him a lot lately. I am a snowboarder from Vermont who likes both Ben and Tom, a lot. I sometimes disagree with Tom's views (e.g., I like double imputation, or better, multpile imputations), but I am grateful that he helps to make sense of the New Covenant story that the apostle Paul is telling throughout his letters, especially Romans and Galatians.
For all of the theology nerds out there, since we just got through our series "Justification by Heart", check out this interview over at Ben's blog.
Local Mini-doc on Religion in VT
Cool little film about religion in our beloved least-religious state in the US...and major props to dweller Alicia! So rad. Check it:
Jesus, Paul, James, and Ringo
So, yeah, it's a tiny bit dangerous to throw the great Ringo Starr's name up there with Jesus and some apostles, but I honestly think that the drummer's input might be helpful in deciphering a difficult biblical-theological issue: that of faith and works. [...]
Podcasting Pearls
There are defining moments in life. Getting engaged. Getting married. Becoming a parent. And that most sublime of experiences: seeing the church you helped to plant show up on ITunes.
Dwell is officially a podcasting church now.
We are among only a handful of churches in VT that podcast, and the only one in the greater Burlington region. Is that a competitive statement? Well, yes and no. No, in the sense that podcasting doesn't make you any more or less a Jesus-loving, mission-crazed church; yes, in the sense that communication is essential to mission, and ITunes is the standard for communication, digitally speaking.
But, Burlington churches, we're not trying to beat you. We want you to join us. We think that Burlington needs podcasting churches. Not because my or any other pastor's words are indispensible but because any words, if they are gospel-words, may in fact be used of God for the salvation and restoration and rejuvenation of those who hear. And how will they hear without a podcaster?
