Podcasting Pearls
Posted By: Zach Hoag
There are defining moments in life. Getting engaged. Getting married. Becoming a parent. And that most sublime of experiences: seeing the church you helped to plant show up on ITunes.
Dwell is officially a podcasting church now.
We are among only a handful of churches in VT that podcast, and the only one in the greater Burlington region. Is that a competitive statement? Well, yes and no. No, in the sense that podcasting doesn't make you any more or less a Jesus-loving, mission-crazed church; yes, in the sense that communication is essential to mission, and ITunes is the standard for communication, digitally speaking.
But, Burlington churches, we're not trying to beat you. We want you to join us. We think that Burlington needs podcasting churches. Not because my or any other pastor's words are indispensible but because any words, if they are gospel-words, may in fact be used of God for the salvation and restoration and rejuvenation of those who hear. And how will they hear without a podcaster?
Yet lest I should come off all self-important, let me be clear: Recording our messages and then posting/podcasting has been a humbling experience thus far. First off, our sound equipment over at the 150 year old Free Methodist Church of Burlington is not exactly state-of-the-art; and while we would like to someday put out a super-polished media product that would be as if Mars Hill Seattle married Rob Bell's NOOMA's and had a baby and that baby was US, for now you might have to deal with a little snap-crackle-pop in your earbuds.

But that's ok because we are in a process as a church, a process of becoming a force for the kingdom of God in the city of Burlington. So, every week, probably around Tuesday, Dwell will be podcasting pearls right to your macbook.
