Dwell Missional Church is a Downtown Burlington Vt Community Church.
A burlington icon
Dwell began gathering in a little building on North St., and this iconic street will always be central to the mission of our community.
Once the center of town and lined with vibrant shops, restaurants, and offices, North St. stands now as only a shadow of its former glory. Between T. Rugg's Pub and the Old Northender lay a few shops, some housing, and a homeless shelter. And this street represents an entire neighborhood that Dwell loves deeply: the Old North End.
The needs in this neighborhood cannot be overstated. There's poverty, to be sure. But there is also a great deal of beauty. The O.N.E. is the most diverse area in the entire state and home to an increasing number of resettled refugees; and the Burlington Emergency Shelter on North St. has become Dwell's home away from home, yeilding many friendships and much encouragement. Oh yeah - and our Leader for Teaching lives in this neighborhood with his wife and daughter!
Another initiative that Dwell supports in this same vein is The Banquet @ 150, a huge quarterly dinner for homeless and at-risk folks held at the New Moon Cafe downtown. It's an honor to serve and dine with our homeless and at-risk neighbors and see the kingdom come in the process.
