Downtown! And by downtown we mean the cultural center of Burlington represented best by the famed Church St. Marketplace and the South End Arts District.
Dwell's gathering location is right around the corner from the downtown hub, and dwellers are deeply embedded in the life of our city's center. The fact is that Burlington is young, creative, fashionable, professional, outdoorsy, active, and socially and environmentally conscious, and we love being right in the middle of it all. From the summer Farmer's Market to fun on the Waterfront to the South End Art Hop to all-season dining and shopping on the Marketplace to cafe's and music halls dotting the landscape - this is where we dwell, where God has called us to embody good news.
This area of our mission is all about context; we live the experience daily and desire to build relationships with people that hold this place and its culture in common. One of the most significant initiatives in our downtown mission is The Likeness Standard, a music, art, and justice project that is connecting creatives in our city to justice causes locally and globally. It's an initiative launched by our band The Likeness who often play shows in venues around Burlington. Take a look:
As we daily build these relationships or communicate our message at weekly gatherings or contrive creative efforts with the help of our Leaders for Design we are essentially doing the Downtown mission...and having a ton of fun in the process.
