Who We Are
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. - Jn 1:14, NIV
The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood. - Jn 1:14, MSG
"Dwell Missional Church" is a name - but there is an identity behind it.
It all begins with that word - dwell - and the powerful idea that in Jesus, God became just like us, and dwelled with us in order to rescue and restore us. Everything else that defines who we are as a church flows from this central thing. Our mission is simple:
We are dwelling in Burlington to embody the good news of Jesus
for the sake of our city and world.
Historically Rooted
Our beliefs are rooted in the historic tradition of the church, as seen most beautifully in the Apostle's Creed, 2nd century CE:
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into the grave.
The third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.
Our denomination, the EFCA, also has a statement of faith that we generally identify with.
