Who We Are
...the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. -Jn 1/14, ESV
The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood. -Jn 1/14, MSG
"Dwell Missional Church" is a name - but there is an identity behind it.
It all begins with that word - dwell - and the poignant truth that in Jesus, God became a man, just like us, and dwelled with us in order to save us. Everything else that defines who we are as a church flows from this one truth. We are a community of Jesus-followers who are seeking to carry on this work - dwelling in our city of Burlington in order to bring the good news of Jesus to those who need it.
Here's is our one-sentence mission statement:
Dwell Missional Church exists to be a biblically faithful, culturally relevant, counter-culture community of believers who are committed to making much of Jesus Christ through missional living in the city of Burlington, VT.
Deeper Roots
As a church for today, we want to be clear that our roots go deep into Christian history and confession. As such we identify ourselves in these three ways:
- We are firstly a Christian church, according to the Apostle's Creed.
- We are secondly a Protestant church, arising from Reformation confessions that helped correct certain errors in the Church.
- We are thirdly an Evangelical church, adhering to evangelical distinctives as stated in the Evangelical Free Church statement of faith.
