Ever since the Christian church began, it has gathered on the first day of the week for worship through song, prayer, teaching, and the Table (see Acts 2). And since it's not broke, we don't intend to fix it!
The gathering is where we are shaped into the people of God who embody the presence of Jesus for the sake of his mission. The gathering is missional. The church is mission.
Every Sunday we gather at the First United Methodist Church of Burlington right in the center of Downtown at 1pm.
And our gatherings do have a distinct "flavor" that reflects the culture of the city we love. There is a "something more" that draws people into a unique experience of worship.
So what is that "something more"?
The Dwell Sunday gathering is a deep-thinking, artful expression of embodied hope, restoration, and flourishing in the presence of God.
And it isn't the end of our worship - it's just the beginning. It's a beautiful, inspiring Call to Worship, and our lives on mission throughout the week are the Response to that Call.
